Bruised

That day his ego was bruised. He was shattered. He swore to give it back to their faces. He was shivering with anger and resentment. His eyes were red and his face was covered with tears. Their nasty words had pierced his heart. Several aggressive retorts kept flooding his mind, but he chose to remain silent. He shut his eyes tight and tried to maintain a neutral expression. Water still kept seeping through his closed eyelids.

In the background, a parallel or rather anti-parallel thought process had begun in his mind. Was he really going nowhere? This question kept haunting him. After a heated exchange of words, he had locked himself up in his room. He now contemplated the events as they had unfolded. He had taken the insults onto himself and now was eager to prove them wrong. But what could be possibly do? All this was an entirely new ballgame for him.

But he was determined. He was going to do it. And as they say, where there’s a will there’s a way. An opportunity sprang out of nowhere.

I love you

They paused before her house. He looked at her face. She looked at his. He wore a bright smile. The smile made her blush. Her dimples shone and eyes twinkled. The stars and the moon reflected her charm. The only sound was of the soft breeze that blew. The quietness made her feel uncomfortable.

“Say something!” she said.

He took a small step forward and held her gently by her waist. Looking at her lips, he bit his own. Then turning his gaze to her eyes he said

“I love you.”

There in his arms, she found paradise. And as their lips made contact, she escaped reality.

True love

It calls you. The dusty guitar in your closet. The novel you stopped writing. Your pencils and brushes. They call you. With open arms. You too want to go. Embrace them to content. Relive those days of satisfaction and joy. Strike those cords all along. Fill pages with beautiful words. Paint those canvases with your imagination. But hardly do you know nor do they, you are wooing someone else’s love..

Those books which never called you. The sums which never excited you. The working of machines, which you didn’t know exist. Learning by mind but not by heart. Writing by rote but not by art. All this just for a heavy wallet. So that when you die, you die with your pockets full but heart empty. Cursing yourself all your life, that you married someone else’s bride. And cheated on your true love..
